Something about us
About us
Little Penguin Early Learning Centre is a newly established 90-place privately owned long day care and preschool in Kilsyth. Our family-owned business operates 5 days a week between the hours of 7am to 6pm. We have 5 purposefully designed rooms to cater for children from 6 weeks to 6 years of age. Our goal is to provide children a supportive environment to thrive in their early years with education, health, development and general wellbeing. We provide a stimulating and safe nurturing learning environment that encourages children to discover the world around them.
It is our primary focus to collaborate with families to ensure positive transitions into care are experienced, no matter the age in which a child begins the journey. Secure attachments are the first foundations necessary before a child will freely engage with his environment. We pride ourselves in bridging the gap between home and care and striving for an environment that welcomes you in, enticing a secure love of self and curiosity for lifelong learning.

At Little Penguin Early Learning Centre, we are committed to creating a nurturing, stimulating, and welcoming learning environments for all children. We strive to empower children to reach their full potential and to foster a lifelong love for learning. We uphold the notion of the environment being the third teacher. Our educational programs encourage children to engage in positive interactions through meaningful play-based curriculum. We believe that children are constructors of their own knowledge and implement opportunities to revisit, explore, discover and construct their own knowledge.
We partner with families in supporting children’s growth.
We recognise the important role the family plays in a young child’s life. We respect parents as the children’s first and most important teachers. We believe children can realise their full potential under the collaboration between educators, families, and the wider community and work towards establishing and maintaining respectful, trusting, and reciprocal relationships between children, families, educators, and the wider community.
We build an inclusive community where all are respected and welcomed.
We support children to develop a sense of belonging to the Little Penguin and wider community through showing respect to everyone through inclusive ways of being. We believe that an inclusive environment helps children gain confidence to explore their own and other’s cultural identity. We believe that children can develop empathy and understanding for others when they are part of an inclusive community.
We endorse and practice commitment to child safety.
We are dedicated to fostering inclusive and culturally safe environments, with particular care for First Nations children, children with disabilities, and those from diverse backgrounds. With zero tolerance for child abuse, our team prioritise listening to children to ensure their safety and empowerment. Guided by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, we aim to embed an educate all about every child’s right to protection, respect, and a voice.
Our philosophy is inspired by the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF), the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligence, Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory, Piaget’s Theory of Cognitive Development, Erik Erikson's Stages of Psychosocial Development, and Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory.
