What make us different

High level of individualised care in Kilsyth

Our Nursery room at Little Penguin ELC seeks to provide the highest level of infant care. Our educators are warm and experienced in taking care of young children to provide them with a good start in life. Some of our special features are as follows:

a Flexible routines - we seek to mirror babies' routines from home to ease the transition from home to centre.

a Lower ratios - 1 educator : 3 babies. This is lower than the Department's required ratio.

a Separated bottle containers - Safe and hygienic way to store the bottles and formula. This lowers the possibility of contamination or mix-up.

Appreciation of the nature - Sustainability

Becoming environmentally responsible can be a complex topic. We take our duty for looking after the environment to heart at Little Penguin ELC. Our educators are passionate and dedicated to progressing sustainability within their services and supporting children to become environmentally responsible. Our current embedded practice and features in the program:

a Compost leftover food

a Worm farm

a Secret Garden – Children and educators grow our own produce (tomato, strawberry, herbs). Through gardening, children take initiative to look after the garden and the land.

a Located beside a park where we organise regular outings to.

a Our outdoor playground supports children's healthy lifestyle.

Healthy meals

a Organic food - high levels of food safety and nutritional menu

a Food & cooking project – Introducing children to food from various cultures supports children's exploration of different tastes and textures

a Personalised menu - We cater to children with dietary preferences, allergies and anaphylaxis. This includes dietary requirements due to cultural, family or medical reasons.

Individualised Portfolio

a We schedule regular meetings with parents and families to discuss the individualised goals for each child.

a We would like to partner and collaborate with you to support your child’s learning and have a smooth transition from home and centre. It is important for us that we work closely with families and attend to your needs and expectations in terms of extending your child’s learning and development. This goal will be reviewed and updated regularly upon discussion with families. It is collective effort from our team and families to gather evidence for the learning goal.

a We will be meeting parents 3 – 4 times a year to set or review goals. The experienced educators at Little Penguin ELC will support your children in achieving these goals.

a Each child will also be presented with an Individualised Progress Report comprising of their individual observations aligned to their goals.

A promise in every smile.
